Hay Hotfooters Running Club

In the words of a 70’s tabloid, phwoar what a scorcher! But the Saharan heat didn’t deter a band of hardy Hotfooters from turning out for the 3rd cross country of the summer series. As the momentum of the series gathers, thirteen took to the start line making up two full teams. It was blisteringly hot, the ground was rock hard and dusty, but there was enough shade and air movement to make it not completely unbearable. The course was very gently undulating - the writer had wished for more steep hills to dawdle up then storm down, but to no avail, she had to keep running the whole way round. All performed fantastically, but special mentions go to Paul Milsom who won his age category and Beth who came third in hers. As we head into the last race of the series in two weeks, the overall standings are looking very positive for some podiuming by Hotfooters (I’m not sure when to podium turned into a verb, but there we go). Paul is looking very well placed to take the MV65 category and has a current lead of over 7 minutes. The FV65 category is very hotly contested, with Beth currently in 3rd place, a mere 31 seconds behind 2nd place, come on Beth, keep those ankles healthy! As well as the 13, extra thanks go to Tina and Martyn, who stood in the heat, marshalling to make sure we all got round safely, and I know there were at least two people (not Hotfooters thankfully) who were grateful to the onsite paramedics – like I said, it was a hot one! Come on Hotfooters, lets have a bumper turnout for the last race of the series to do Captain Eleanor proud.
