Race 2 of the Summer XC League at Shobdon Airfield

Hay Hotfooters were cleared for take-off at Shobdon Airfield for Race 2 of the Summer XC League. In his brief pre-flight briefing, the Captain spoke vaguely about the course being “mostly flat”, with “a hill”. After the initial taxi along the flat runway,however, it soon became apparent that we needed to buckle up as we rapidly gained and lost altitude across the course.



On a warm summer evening, Croft Ambrey Running Club presented us with a wonderfully varied route of gravel tracks, grassy field margins and farm paths. After negotiating the final hill, the Hotfooters turned for home and opened the throttles for one last sprint along the smooth tarmac runway.

The whole team successfully channelled their inner Cessna to deliver another excellent Hotfooters performance—with less Easy, more Jet.
