HHF's Sara Lake and Sue Hackett plus friends Steph Peters and former HHF member Mandy Meredith and daughters Abi and Eva joined together in March 2025 to run the Paris Half Marathon - against the odds.
The intrepid ladies overcame major travel disruption due to an unexploded WW2 bomb which was discovered at the Gare du Nord in Paris - cancelling all Eurostar trains into the city.
Thanks to Eva’s brilliant idea to ‘get an overnight ferry’ across the Channel, the ladies tore down to Newhaven to board the overnight ferry to Dieppe. A 7am coach took them to Paris where they were able to collect their race bibs a couple of hours before the deadline. Phew! Not the best start but it was a memorable half marathon. It would have been easy to turn back home and not show up but by pulling together they made it.
The bonus was a whole day of sight seeing the day after the event In amazing Paris!
